Newsletter – May 2016

Dear Sangha and friends of Gomde,

Summer is slowly approaching and we are looking forward to receiving visits by two eminent teachers: Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche at the end of June, and Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche in September. You can read more about that below.

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche

On the one-year anniversary for the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on 25 April 2015, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche sent out an appeal for contributions towards the rebuilding of the Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in Kathmandu. The plans for the extensive construction work are almost finalized, and financial as well as practical support is needed to realize the project. Read more here.

News from the Sangha Association

The association Rangjung Yeshe Sangha holds its general assembly during the yearly summer camp at Gomde. An invitation will be sent out to the association’s members at the end of May.

This year’s agenda will include a discussion on membership benefits. We will also talk about the vision proposal – as well as mission and organization – which was sent for consultation earlier this year. We will be presenting this to Rinpoche when he comes to Gomde, and hope for his approval so that we may continue realizing the vision and the many good ideas contained in it. In addition, we will receive a comprehensive update on the construction project during the meeting.

Finally, the general assembly will elect 2 new members to the association’s Governing Board for a period of 2 years. We encourage all to consider whether you would like to be part of the board in the next phase of the work related to the vision, which requires both reflection and rolling up our sleeves.

Not yet a member of the sangha association? See here how you can join.

Work day at Gomde, Saturday 14 May

Would you like to help prepare Gomde for summer camp? We will meet on Saturday 14 May from 9 am to 6 pm, to arrange the outdoor and other areas (e.g. fit out a covered terrace for the children, get the bonfire place ready, and paint benches).

We provide meals and you are welcome to stay overnight at Gomde. To register, send an email to bernicetilly@gmail.com.

New joint website for all Gomdes

A new website with information about all Gomde centres around the world has just been launched. It contains, among other things, a joint calendar where you can find courses and events taking place at all the centres, from California to Kuala Lumpur.
